Fall 2017 has an edge of absurd fabrics and color palettes. Of course, we can always count on our darker shades but less on our dark skinny jeans. With "skinnies" on the brink of death, designer lines cling to a new look - flattering, wide-leg and straight-leg pants or culottes, as well as broad-shouldered blazers and overcoats. All of these styles are made of velvet. We see a resurgence of velvet every year but never so in your face as this fall. Lines showcased deep reds, plums, blues, and golds in blazers, tops, skirts, bags, and pants - oh

and socks! The slinky, soft fabric is a must-try trend as it's both warm and comfortable. Plus, lighter colored velvet can be used as a transitional wardrobe piece as Summer months start to cool. I know I will be buying into this trend this year, and I'll be sure to post how I style the pieces I find. For now, however, browse my Pinterest board for inspiration and choose how you will style your velvet ensemble. Be sure to share with me in a comment or on social media if you decide to try the trend! I'd love to see your personal take on this season's 70s inspired fabric.
