If there is ever a year to do some traveling, it’s 2017. Exotic vacations and ancient ruins have gone from something we may never get to see, to something available for a few hundred dollars. I know I have been dying to do some traveling this year, simply because of the cheaper flight prices. So, though my traveling will be moving to New York this Summer, I thought it would be fun to compile a list of the cheapest places to visit this Summer for Summer Break 2017.

01. Crete

When I think Summer, I think gorgeous, crystal clear oceans. That’s when I researched the prices for favorite ocean destinations, such as Greece. Due to Greece’s current economic crisis, their costs are the lowest they’ve ever been, providing all the ocean lovers with a sure-fire way to get the most out of their savings. Plus, the US dollar, in general, is getting more value against the Euro this year.

According to Google, the Euro to Dollar exchange rate is currently at 0.94 Euros per every US dollar.

02. Belize

I can’t count on two hands how many times I have scrolled through Instagram and come across a celebrity or “Insta Famous” traveler in Belize. For us mere average humans, achieving the iconic Belize photographs have been consistently out of reach. However, Summer 2017 may be the time Belize can become a reality.  Though the plane tickets are pretty pricey still, once one reaches Belize, there are hotels that offer full-inclusions, such as bike rentals, for under 100 dollars a night. Laura Begley Boom, contributing writer to Forbes, mentioned in her article, “The 30 Cheapest Places to Travel in 2017”, two hotels that should be on this radar.  The George Hardie’s Las Vegas Hotel in Corozal (Northern Belize) and the oceanside Royal Caribbean Resort in San Pedro along Ambergris Caye are phenomenal, affordable choices. On top of that, food in Belize is amazingly cheap.

03. Barcelona

When it comes to popularity, Barcelona is typically a winner. However, compared to other highly ranked destinations, such as London, Barcelona is way cheaper. Why? The restaurants are crazy cheap, and several adventures await for completely free of charge. Barcelona can give a Summer vacationer the perfect mix of culture and beautiful views, from the ocean to the marketplaces. For the best prices, book your ticket ASAP, seeing as it is the most expensive part of the trip. The sooner you book it (along with where you plan to stay), the cheaper it will be – that’s a pretty general rule for anywhere you go.

Did you know that Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city with an average of 1.6 million residents?

04.  Bali

Perhaps another “everywhere on Instagram” destination is Bali. It is possibly the most exotic of destinations on this list, and the plane tickets – much like the others – are the most expensive part. Staying in Bali can be really cheap if you do it correctly. The absolute best way to go is Airbnb. If you aren’t familiar with the “hosting” site, it is essentially a craigslist for renting out a home or apartment space. So, you can find deals, like a majestic hut on the ocean in Bali, for a little under $50 a night on Airbnb.

Which of these four destinations has you drooling? Personally, I would die to visit Barcelona! Spring Break may be around the corner, but before you know it, it will be Summer. So, start saving and planning for your epic Summer 2017 vacay today, and come back Thursday for a new blog post.
